Scenario planning

Choose, star, copy and manage scenarios

Switch between scenarios, star the customer's favorite, copy or create your own scenario, rename or delete it, follow price updates, and save snapshots.

The Scenarios list on the left of Scenario planning shows every planning option for this customer as a card, with its total on its own line under the name, and its product count.

The Scenarios list.

Choose a scenario

Click a scenario to open it. Above its lines you see its name, its product count, how it was made (for example Generated from M365) and when the customer's Microsoft 365 data last synced.

While Deal Hub recalculates a scenario, a small indicator shows beside its name in the list (for example Agent reviewing while an agent works). A scenario with no products priced yet reads Not priced yet.

Star a scenario

Click the star beside a scenario (Star ...) to mark it as the customer's preferred option. A customer has one starred scenario: starring another moves the star.

Make your own scenario

Choose Copy scenario on any scenario. If it has changes not saved yet, Deal Hub saves it first. The copy appears in the list with the same lines, ready to change.

Every scenario saves your changes as you make them.

Rename or delete

Your own scenarios can be renamed (Rename ..., then Save name). To delete one, choose the bin icon on its card, beside Copy (Delete ...), and confirm with Delete scenario. Quotes already created from it are kept. As Is, Right Sized and Optimized have no delete and can't be renamed.

Refresh and price updates

Refresh, beside Create a Quote, updates every scenario of the customer with the latest Microsoft 365 data and price lists. While it runs, the indicator beside the scenario's name shows Updating prices (This is taking longer than usual if it's slow), then Prices updated. Other tabs of the record show the same in a small badge in the header.

When a scenario needs something, one sentence under its name says what, with its one button, for example Update now or Try again. Problems with a single product show only on that product's row; see The lines.

If Deal Hub can't refresh the Microsoft 365 data, you'll see Microsoft 365 data was not refreshed.

Figures not saved

A built scenario saves its figures by itself. If what you see differs from what was last saved and nothing is waiting, a notice says Figures not saved, with the customer total shown and the total saved. Choose Save figures to save what you see.

Snapshots

A snapshot keeps every scenario of the customer as it is now: lines, totals, price list and segment. Your scenarios don't change, and you can view and compare a snapshot later. Each quote saves one on its own.

A snapshot, read only, on Compare with now for each scenario
A snapshot compared with now.

Save a snapshot

Choose Save snapshot in the scenario's toolbar.

Give it a name (or leave it blank to name it by today's date and time) and an optional Note, for example the proposal sent on Friday.

Choose Save snapshot. You'll see Snapshot saved: ....

Open, compare, rename or delete

Snapshots in the left rail lists them (Show snapshots / Hide snapshots). Choose Open snapshot to see it read only:

  • As it was: each scenario's lines and totals as the snapshot recorded them.
  • Compare with now: each scenario then and now, and the lines added, removed or changed.

Rename snapshot changes its name and note only (what it recorded never changes). Delete snapshot takes it off the list. The person who saved it or an organization admin can delete it; a snapshot a quote or document was made from is kept, and says why.

Make something from a snapshot

From an open snapshot you can:

  • Export to Excel a saved As Is, Right Sized or Optimized as the snapshot recorded it, For the customer or with partner cost, incentives and profit. It's saved in Documents.
  • Create a presentation or Create an executive brief from its saved scenarios. The customer's other data is as it is now.
  • Create a Quote of a scenario from the snapshot, while the snapshot still matches the scenario now. If it no longer matches, Deal Hub says what changed and offers the scenario's own Create a Quote.

Made from this snapshot lists what was made from it.
