Scenario planning

How scenario planning works

As Is, Right Sized and Optimized scenarios built from the customer's Microsoft 365 data, plus your own, priced from your active price lists.

Scenario planning is the tab where you price the deal. Each scenario is a list of products and quantities, priced from one of your price lists, with partner cost, customer price, incentives and profit on every line.

The three built scenarios

Deal Hub builds three scenarios from the customer's Microsoft 365 data. They load together and stand on their own: none waits for another to be approved or saved.

ScenarioWhat it is
As IsWhat the customer has today: their current licenses and quantities
Right SizedAs Is without the licenses nobody is assigned: Removes ... unassigned licence seats ... grounded in tenant assignment data
OptimizedRight Sized, then reviewed against real usage, overlapping licenses and admin roles by the Optimize agent, for further savings on top of Right Sized

Annual savings on Right Sized is Against As Is.; on Optimized it's On top of Right Sized. If a Right Sized or Optimized line needs a price As Is hasn't worked out yet, it shows its product and seats with Waiting on As Is and the reason, and stays out of the totals until it's priced.

You can also make your own scenarios, from scratch or as a copy. See Choose, star, copy and manage scenarios.

Before you start

  • The customer's Microsoft 365 must be connected. See M365 data.
  • Your organization needs an active price list, uploaded in Onyx Platform's Settings › Pricing. See Pricing.
  • Check the customer's segment. Deal Hub prices as Corporate until something names another. See Segment.

Build the scenarios

Choose Generate from M365 data at the top of the Scenarios list. Deal Hub builds As Is, Right Sized and Optimized (Loading As Is, Right Sized and Optimized from Microsoft 365). They update by themselves when the customer's data or your price lists change; see Refresh and price updates.

If Optimized can't run (for example the customer's Microsoft 365 user license data is missing), it says why instead of showing no removals.

Where prices come from

Partner Center first, then the price list the partner uploaded, then public retail. A price is never invented; the source it came from is named here and on each row. Choose Pricing detail to see every source file in use.

Snapshots

Save snapshot keeps every scenario of the customer as it is now, to look back at and compare later. See Snapshots.

From scenario to quote

When a scenario is right, choose Create a Quote. See Create a quote. Scenarios also feed presentations, briefs and Excel exports.
