Onyx Docs
Customer onboarding

What your customer sees

The onboarding pages your customer opens from your link, for Microsoft 365 and for Azure, with your logo and brand color.

Your customer doesn't need an Onyx account. The link opens a short onboarding wizard with your logo, your partner name and your primary brand color, set in Onyx Platform's Settings › Branding (see Branding). The pages themselves always use Onyx's own dark onboarding look. Knowing what they see helps you answer their questions.

The wizard has three steps: Get started, Upload files and Connect Microsoft (or Connect Azure), then a result page. Close onboarding asks Leave onboarding? (You can come back to this link later.).

Get started

Welcome to Microsoft 365 onboarding explains what happens: Document collection and a Microsoft 365 connection. The customer ticks the data authorization terms (with links to the privacy notice and policy) and chooses Get started.

Upload files

Upload documents: Drop any contracts, pricing documents or agreements you want analysed. Under Optional documents, Most useful names a CSP agreement, EA amendments, an EA contract pack or an MPSA agreement, and Also helpful names Microsoft license statements, invoices or true-up details. They drag files in or choose Choose files.

Each file shows its progress (Uploaded, reading…, then Uploaded and read), with Retry if one fails. Collected Data Summary shows what was Extracted from Documents. They can Continue once every file is stored, or Skip this step.

Connect to Microsoft 365

Read only access. The customer's administrator chooses Connect Microsoft 365, signs in to Microsoft and approves the connection. The page lists what's read: Users and groups, Licences, Organization and SaaS apps, plus usage and security insights. They can Skip, in which case nothing is shared.

Complete

Microsoft sends them back to a page that says how it went (see below).

The customer's Welcome to Microsoft 365 onboarding page
What your customer sees first.

The result page

The customer seesIt means
Microsoft 365 connected / Azure connectedDone. Connected. Safe to close.
... Analysis pendingConnected; the analysis hasn't started yet. You'll start it again and follow up
... Some permissions missingConnected, but Microsoft didn't grant every permission, so parts of the analysis are missing. The page lists them, with Re-grant permissions
Consent was not completedAccess wasn't granted. Their administrator needs to approve it, then use the link again
Microsoft 365 was not connected / Azure was not connectedThey skipped connecting. Documents they uploaded are saved; they can use the link again later
Assessment approval receivedThe customer approved the background assessment. Deal Hub is checking access and collecting the assessment data
Assessment access not approvedThe Microsoft 365 connection stays, but the full assessment can't run without administrator approval. They can try again while the link is active
Assessment approval could not be verifiedThe approval couldn't be verified for the connected tenant. They can try again while the link is active
Something went wrongAsk them to use the link again

If the link is damaged (for example cut short when pasted), the customer sees This onboarding link is incomplete. Ask whoever sent it for a fresh link. Copy it again from Customer onboarding.

On your side, a tenant whose assessment access isn't confirmed shows Microsoft access not verified on its M365 data tab.

Who should open the link

Approving the connection needs a Microsoft administrator in the customer's organization. If the person you sent it to isn't one, they can forward the link. The link keeps working until it expires or you withdraw it.
